WHAT TO WEAR FOR A HEADSHOT SESSION
Headshots are an essential part of an actor's career, as they are used to market actors to casting directors, agents, and other industry professionals. Therefore, it's important that actors take the time to choose the right outfit for their headshot session. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when choosing what to wear:
Keep it simple: avoid patterns and bold colours, as they can be distracting and take away from the focus on your face. Stick to solid colours in neutral shades and avoid wearing thin straps which expose the shoulders too much (e.g. vests), as the neckline should be simple and not too wide. V-necks, round necks and collared shirts are great. Denim and leather jackets are also good props for more variety.
Be yourself: the most important thing is to be comfortable and confident in what you're wearing. Choose an outfit that makes you feel like the best version of yourself.
Check for wrinkles and stains: it will help you look your best and give a good impression if you make sure your clothes are wrinkle-free and free of stains before your headshot session. However we have a steamer in the studio as I appreciate clothes get creased inevitably when travelling.
Minimal make-up and jewellery: keep your make-up natural and minimal, avoid heavy jewellery that can take the focus away from your face. Headshots are meant to capture your natural features, so try not to overdo it.
By keeping these tips in mind, you'll be sure to choose the right outfit for your headshot session and make a great first impression on industry professionals.
